Hi - just a reminder that if you plant a box on Sunday, September 19th -
which is International Talk Like a Pirate Day - it would be very cool to
write your clues in Pirate Talk. An example may be found in the clues to
Leapin' Lovers, western NC.....planted Sept. 19, 2003.
There are Talk Like a Pirate Day celebrations all over the world this
weekend - including Baghdad! For more information on that, and for

Too bad the Wacky Holidays Postal Letterbox already went out. "Talk
Like a Pirate Day" sounds like a shoo-in!

Well, it would just shiver me timbers if one of you Texas boxers would plant
a box with "talk like a pirate" clues... like, how about somewhere near
Clear Lake (South of Houston) ! I have a little nephew who was just adopted
a year and a half ago, and he LOVES pirates and clues. He's only 4, and
they've tried to do some letterboxing, but many of the few boxes near them
have gone missing. He's the cutest, sweetest little guy you could hope to
meet, and I keep hoping he'll be able to find some letterboxes soon. They
get to San Antonio pretty often too. I'll let them know about Talk Like a

Your nephew's family could also sign up for some Postal Letterboxes.
Several have been launched recently which are desgined for children.

I know a while back I read something about trans
fering images onto carving medium. The tracing with
pencil has worked well but now I want more detail.
have used the gin method but it does not work on the
images I have reduced in size and recopied. I seem to
remember something about having to be a certain kind
of copy machine. The gin method works with my printer
at home but I want to reduce the image size.
